Encrypt & Unlock GLITCH Wallet

Important: Backup your wallet before changing your passphrase or encrypting your wallet.

After successfully installing and initiating a GLITCH wallet, take the following steps:

Encrypt Wallet

For Command Line Users

Use glitch-cliencryptwalletcommand to encrypt wallet:

./glitch-cli encryptwallet "your strong passphrase"

Note: Remember or write down your passphrase. Your wallet will be irreversibly locked if your passphrase is ever lost or forgotten.

After encryption, all actions such as staking, dumping private keys or sending GLITCH will require you to enter yourpassphrase to unlock your wallet.

For GUI Wallet Users

Step 1: Choose ‘Setting-Encrypt Wallet’ in the menu.

Step 2: Create a new passphrase and enter it again to confirm it. The wallet will restart after encryption.

Remember or write down your passphrase. Your wallet will be irreversibly locked if your passphrase is ever lost or forgotten.

Step 3: Restart qt. You will now see a lock icon on your wallet.

Unlock Wallet

For Command Line Users

Use glitch-cliwalletpassphrase command to unlock wallet:

./glitch-cli walletpassphrase "your strong passphrase" 600

The first argument,‘your strong passphrase,’ is the passphrase you used to encrypt your wallet. The second argument is the unlock time in seconds. After this time, your wallet will automatically re-lock itself. (In the example above, the wallet will be unlocked for 600 seconds, or 10 minutes.)

After your wallet is unlocked, you can send GLITCH funds.

If you want to unlock your wallet for staking only, please use:

./glitch-cli walletpassphrase "your strong password" 999999 true

Change Passphrase

For Command Line Users

Use glitch-cliwalletpassphrasechangecommand to change your passphrase:

./glitch-cli walletpassphrasechange "oldpassphrase" "newpassphrase"

oldpassphrase is the current passphrase previously set,and newpassphrase is the new passphrase you want set.

For GUI Wallet Users

Go to ‘Setting-Change Passphrase’ to change your wallet passphrase. Enter your old passphrase and your new passphrase to complete the change.
